Notes of Interest
Special Pets - Special People
All pets and all people are welcome. If you or a family member has a
special need, please let us know. The Hospital is entirely accessible to
handicapped persons. We will be glad to assist persons in wheelchairs,
blind, deaf, senior citizens, or families with young children. If you have
a special need, feel free to call us in advance so we can give you a helping hand.
Community Service
Our Hospital would like to have a positive effect on the community. We
welcome organizations such as church groups, school groups, Boy Scouts, Girl
Scouts, and 4-H'ers who would like to tour our facilities. We also enjoy
speaking to groups and assisting in such events as Career Day at high schools.
Please call if you are interested in our Hospital becoming involved with your
organization.
Students and Volunteers
Periodically you may see a new face at our Hospital. Our Hospital will
encourage veterinary students to take elective studies (called preceptorships)
with us. This gives the student a chance to learn in a real-Iife work situation.
It also gives us the opportunity to be exposed to the most up-to-date information
in veterinary medicine and surgery. It keeps us on our toes! We will also allow
some high school students who are interested in pursuing veterinary medicine as
a career to volunteer. This will give them an opportunity to decide if "being a
vet is really for me." High school students must be at least 16 years of age and
capable of maintaining high school requirements while with us.
Veterinary Medicine and the Environment
We hope our Hospital will lead the way to set an example for being
environmentally friendly. As consumers and producers of such things as
hazardous waste and medical waste, we will try to do our part to save the
Earth for future generations. We will recycle when possible. Many products
that we use now are becoming more regulated-although laws at this time are
lacking or confusing. We hope to stay on top of these issues and do our part.
